Refused Drop Aggressive New Track “Blood Red”

Refused the hard rock group from Sweden have released a new track, “Blood Red” which pummels you into a feel of heavy guitar, drums and vocals. Their new album, War Music is set for release October 18, 2019. The band is currently on tour supporting their new music. The song, “Blood Red” starts out with a powerful introduction as vocalist, Dennis Lyxzén starts screaming against the powerful guitar riff and heavy drums. He shouts, “Blood Red, Blood Red.” The lyrics are meaningful and charged, “Red is the heart that beats. Blood for the end of our slavery. Rise, let action speak. Dreams are not gonna set us free.”

Recently, Refused performed “Blood Red” live and lead singer Dennis Lyxzén showed his enthusiasm onstage by jumping around and screaming lyrics to “Blood Red.” The group formed in 1991 and released their most influential album, The Shape Of Punk To Come in 1998. From that album, one of their biggest songs “New Noise” was released but the group disbanded shortly after which lasted for roughly 14 years.

In 2007 Lyxzén and Sandström briefly reformed their Refused side project, Final Exit and consisted of members of Refused and Abhinanda. In May 2008, Dennis Lyxzén and David Sandström formed a new straightforward hardcore band under the name AC4. Kristofer Steen moved to Orange County and made a documentary, “Refused Are Fucking Dead” and later began working on operas in Sweden.

The group reunited in 2012 and played various concerts and festivals before releasing Freedom in 2015. Now just four years later they are ready to release War Music this fall and currently on tour. Refused is composed of vocalist Dennis Lyxzén, guitarist Kristofer Steen, drummer David Sandström, and bassist Magnus Flagge. Their lyrics are considered non-conformist with a politically far-left nature.

Refused recently teamed up with the Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red to create all new music for their upcoming video game Cyberpunk 2077. In the game, Refused will be voicing and playing the band SAMURAI. As SAMURAI, Refused released a new song called “Chippin’ In” for the upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 will be starring John Wick actor Keanu Reeves as the character Johnny Silverhand.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
