Khalid Drops Summer Anthem “Right Back” Featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie

Worldwide superstar Khalid has dropped another summer jam in “Right Back”, featuring New York City rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The song is a new version of a song of the same title off his most recent album and first Billboard Top 200 #1, Free Spirit. Khalid is currently on his first biggest tour to date, and is consistently selling out massive arenas all over the world.

“Right Back” kicks off with an auto-tune croon verse from A Boogie that sets the tone for the track. All of A Boogie’s focus is on his current love interest, as he details the power she has over him, and how much he wants to make her happy. Khalid comes in right after A Boogie’s verse and keeps a similar theme, exploring just how good the love feels, the lengths he’ll go to be with her, and how he wants the vibe to be just right for their relationship. The production remains relatively sparse for the entirety of the song aside from the chorus, almost like a brighter and more summery version of Billie Eilish’s production style. Given the success of a similar synth-pop style in Khalid’s most recent hit, “Talk“, this production choice makes perfect sense. The video, directed by legendary music video director Director X, perfectly matches the energy of the song. It features A Boogie and Khalid arriving to an outdoor party during while the sun is still out, and dancing and partying the day away with their significant others. All in all, Khalid appears to be primed for another hit with this excellent release.

Matthew Jordan: I grew up in Massachusetts, but I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I picked up my first musical instrument (viola) in the 3rd grade, and have been a fan of everything the medium has to offer ever since. Some of my favorite artists right now include Matt Maltese, Idles, MIKE, Benny the Butcher, Standing on the Corner, Built to Spill, and Frank Ocean. I also love following the charts and the music business to see what is connecting with listeners and why.
