OctFest Announces 2019 Lineup Featuring Mogwai, Metz and Screaming Females

New York City’s OctFest has announced the lineup for its upcoming 2019 festival. The one-day event is sponsored by Pitchfork and October and will feature a variety of musicians and beers for fans to enjoy. OctFest’s lineup includes a wide range of acts, including the bands Mogwai, Metz and Screaming Females. The festival will take place on October 19 and will be held at the Knockdown Center.

OctFest is a collaboration between the music website Pitchfork and its beer focused project, October. October is a publication as a part of the Pitchfork entertainment sphere that focuses on discussing different types of beer and beer-related issues. The editorial features articles written about various brands and types of beer, as well as highlighting different breweries and individuals who stand out among beer connoisseurs. OctFest combines these two hobbies into an event where people can appreciate both.

The festival will require all attendees to be 21+ and feature an extensive range of breweries from around the country. All of those in attendance will be given 18oz worth of beer samples included in the price of their ticket, with more beer available for purchase. At the event, two stages will be set up with bands performing throughout the day.

One of the bands that will be performing is the punk band Metz. Metz is a Canadian band that has been together for a little over a decade and has been heavily influenced by the grunge music of the 1990s. The group recently released a brand new project, an album titled Automat. The project was preceded by the singles “Dry Up” and “Pure Auto.” Also performing at OctFest is the heavily atmospheric band, Mogwai. The group is guitar-focused instrumental band that has extensive experience working with creating soundtracks for documentaries and short films. Just last year, Mogwai created their first feature film soundtrack. The project was put together for the movie Kin, with the album sharing the same name. Other groups set to perform include Parquet Courts and Control Top. The full list of performers can be found at the OctFest website, linked here, along with information on how to purchase tickets to the festival.
