courtship. is the musical partnership of Micah Gordon and Eli Hirsch, two Los Angeles-based musicians who met playing together and eventually got to jamming together. Their musical partnership has resulted in a sound that combines various influences to create a poppy, totally West Coast sound that will be heard on their upcoming album The Art of Breaking Hearts. Today we’re premiering the latest song from the album, a warm and fuzzy track called “Amy, Run For The Hills.”
While the music is pure pop joy and the lyrical cadence suggests a song about new love, the subject matter is significantly less sunny. Instead of being a song about the bliss of summer love, it’s a song that disguises a dark but realistic scenario: one partner realizes something about the relationship won’t work and they warn their partner to “head for the hills.”
“Sometimes you gotta tell someone you love it just aint gonna work,” the band said about the song. “That sucks. But, it’s better then the alternative – becoming a bickering old couple. Run Amy, you dont wanna see what we’ll become….”
