Co-founder of the pioneering noise rock band Sonic Youth, Thurston Moore, has announced a tour with legs in both Europe and the United States. The tour will start in mid-October with their European shows and then Moore will head to the United States in December, according to Pitchfork.
The tour is following behind the release of Moore’s upcoming album Spirit Counsel. According to mxdwn, Spirit Counsel is set to be released on September 21st and will be released on Moore’s own record label, co-owned by his partner Eva Prinz, The Daydream Library Series. It will come with three discs,as well as a booklet which will feature some of Moore’s art such as “photographs, lyrics, and handwritten scores for recent 12-string electric and acoustic concerts.”
The album features Jon “Wobbly” Leidecker who Moore says, according to the previously mentioned mxdwn article, “We all fell for Jon during an unforgettable moment on the platform of the train station in rural Denmark as we stood beside him with other passengers and witnessed in awe as he and his hand-held electronics conducted an extensive conversation with the local crows. Suddenly all these birds flew in and surrounded him on the train platform and began singing with him.”
Pitchfork refers to Spirit Counsel as “a 3xCD box set of ‘epic instrumental pieces.’” Pre-order Spirit Counsel here.
