mxdwn PREMIERE: Forgetter Get Mysterious On New Song “Never Gonna Find You”

David Klinger is a multi-instrumentalist from Washington, DC and the leader of a new group called Forgetter. The band will be releasing a new LP in a few weeks on August 2 and today we’re excited to premiere a new song from that record. “Never Gonna Find You” is the title track from the band’s upcoming record and it’s a laid back, organ-driven baroque-pop tune that puts Klinger’s gentle vocals front and center. About halfway through the song everything breaks down and grinds to a halt, with nothing more than a piano continuing the melody.

Forgetter’s new album Parts of Anything has its origins way back in 2012, when Klinger was still a member of another DC band called Frua Eva. Although he initially wanted to release the songs on an EP quickly after Frau Eva broke up, he ended up honing these songs over the last few years, with the end result this new 17-song collection that will be released next week.

“‘never gonna find you’ is about revealing too much of who you are and trying to get your soul back through some fantastic transformation,” said Klinger. “That’s a hard thing to do. I used to try really hard to be mysterious, but it’s impossible to be something you’re not – and the first rule of being mysterious is to never talk about trying to be mysterious – so now I’m definitely out of the club.”
