Deluxe Motörhead 1979 Box Set To Include Reissues of Overkill and Bomber

Motörhead and has announced a series of legacy releases via BMG. Their first release is focused on the “Motörhead’s ’79” campaign, and includes new deluxe editions of both their 1979 albums, Overkill and Bomber, in celebration of the projects’ 40th anniversaries. The packages come in hardbound bookpacks in two CD and triple-LP formats, and the additional content includes previously unreleased recordings of some of the group’s 1979 concerts, interviews, and many previously unreleased photos.

BMG and Motorhead are also offering the “1979” box-set, which includes both the Overkill and Bomber deluxe editions, and even more extra goodies. Highlights of this fantastic package include “The Rest of ’79” vinyl, which features B-sides, outtakes, and rare tracks from this Motörhead era, an Overkill sheet music book, and a ’79 badge set. All this comes housed in a black biker jacket box, perfectly fitting in with the Motörhead aesthetic that superfans are sure to love.

All of these new Motörhead packages will be released on October 25th. Unfortunately, Motörhead has lost a few of its core members in recent years. The last member of Motörhead from their classic era, “Fast” Eddie Clarke, passed away on January 10th, 2018. Frontman Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister passed away on December 28th, 2015. A couple years after his death, the last solo studio recording of his, “We Are The Ones“, was released.

Matthew Jordan: I grew up in Massachusetts, but I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I picked up my first musical instrument (viola) in the 3rd grade, and have been a fan of everything the medium has to offer ever since. Some of my favorite artists right now include Matt Maltese, Idles, MIKE, Benny the Butcher, Standing on the Corner, Built to Spill, and Frank Ocean. I also love following the charts and the music business to see what is connecting with listeners and why.
