Killswitch Engage Share Powerful New Single “I Am Broken Too”

Killswitch Engage released a powerful new track, “I Am Broken Too” which is loaded with nothing but positive filled messages to uplift the soul. The song is featured on the band’s eighth album, Atonement set to release on August 16 via Metal Blade Records. The video is filled with a focus on handwritten lyrics, “You Carry This Weight, trying to cover your mistakes. To make it seem like nothing could ever break you. But I see right through because I am broken too. In all the same places as you. If you needed proof, I’ll reopen the wounds.” This powerful song is dedicated to those who struggle with mental illness and fight silently for help.

Killswitch Engage includes Adam Dutkiewicz [lead guitar], Joel Stroetzel [rhythm guitar], Mike D’Antonio [bass], Justin Foley [drums], and Jesse Leach [vocals]. The band is devoted to the cause of helping those who are struggling. Not only is it apparent in their music lyrics but they work in tandem with a non-profit organization called “Hope for the Day” which provides outreach and mental health education to prevent suicide attempts.

Jesse Leach stated, “Many people suffer from mental illness in one form or another. I want nothing more than for people to feel like they are not alone in this struggle. There is always someone there to help, to listen, and to be there for you. Don’t lose hope and don’t let your brokenness consume you. Broken can be fixed, or at the very least, maintained. No one is alone in this fight.”

Killswitch Engage will be doing an exclusive in-store performance at Amoeba Music Hollywood on August 14 at 5:00pm Pacific Time. Fans will be able to purchase the album to get guaranteed admission and a limited-edition “Live at Amoeba” poster. Details for the event are located here. The band will also perform at The Space in Las Vegas on August 13, 2019.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
