Beyonce Announces New Lion King Inspired Album Lion King: The Gift Featuring Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Jay-Z and Pharrell For July 2019 Release

Disney fans are hyped as the remake of The Lion King is set to come out this week. In addition to this Disney event, Beyoncé made everything way more exciting with the announcement that she’ll be releasing a new The Lion King inspired album called Lion King: The Gift. The album will be released this Friday July 19th and features a number of artists including Childish Gambino, JAY-Z, her daughter Blue Ivy, Kendrick Lamar, 070 Shake, Pharrell, and more. Beyoncé herself appears in eight out of the thirteen songs on the album. In the remake of The Lion King, Beyoncé is giving a voice to the character Nala.

When talking about curating an album for the movie, Beyoncé explained that her songs reflect a “sonic cinema” and act as “a new experience of storytelling.” She went on to say, “I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline,” she added. “Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation. It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.”
