Little Boots Announces JUMP EP For August 2019 Release Premieres New Disco Infused Track “Lesson”

Little Boots the British singer and DJ aka Victoria Christina Hesketh has released a new track, “Lesson” alongside DJ Kiddy Smile. The song illustrates the artist’s soothing voice against an electronic disco beat. The song echoes with lyrics, “If you are the answer let me be the question. Desire is a dancer and love is the lesson.” The two voices weave in and out against a solid beat track that fades out gently. On August 2, Little Boots will release her new album, JUMP which she describes “is about a jumping off point, about rediscovering your inner strength and identity and reaching a place where you are ready to take risks again, about throwing caution to the wind and challenging yourself.”

She describes her new track, “Lesson” to be about about choosing to love yourself and own your desires, and the interplay between passion and deeper feelings. Hesketh explains, “I have been a big fan of Kiddy Smile for a while, he is such an icon and pioneer of the Parisian ballroom scene. The sonic feel was inspired by my recent disco house DJ sets. it reminds me of dancing on hot summer nights under the stars or driving around the city after dark with the windows down and the music loud.”

The new album, JUMP will be released under her own On Repeat Records, the project was created alongside house-music producer Cyril Hahn. Hesketh was previously a member of the band Dead Disco a group she met while studying at the University of Leeds. Dead Disco began playing gigs around the north of England; their live gig in the headline slot at the “In the City” event in Manchester which gained them enough recognition to get a recording stint with James Ford. With the success of several sell out gigs and an appearance at the Leeds Festival, the band moved to Los Angeles to begin recording their debut album with Greg Kurstin. However, it was around this time that Hesketh herself began to write songs not in keeping with the band’s “indie” style.

In 2008 she left the band and in an interview with The Times said, “All the time I’d been hiding my own songs and finally I had to make the sort of music I actually wanted to listen to. Before I used to always think, ‘What would a jazz performer do?’ or ‘What would the band do?’ Now it’s so easy because it’s ‘What would I do?’ It’s just me.”

Since performing as a solo artist she has released three albums, Hands (2009), Nocturnes (2013) and Working Girl (2015) and a number of associated EPs and remixes. Hesketh has toured internationally both as a DJ-only act as well as with a full band. Hands reached number five on the UK Albums Chart and the singles “New in Town” and “Remedy” became top twenty hits.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
