Seeing Gary Numan take the Substance stage should be nothing less than iconic as Numan is one of the most influential artists among the synth-pop scene. As one of the founders of the genre, the English singer and songwriter has been experimenting with synth sound for over forty years. Known for his quirky sound, Numan has proved that he isn’t afraid to stand out with his mixtures of Krautrock and Glam Rock in his music. During his career, the artist has released 25 studio albums and 28 live albums. Among his most popular songs are “Cars,” “My Name is Ruin,” and “Metal.” This fall, Numan will be going on his Fall 2019 (R)evolution 40th Anniversary Tour.

Taking the Substance stage with Numan will be the musician, songwriter, and synthesizer genius John Maus. The artist has been active for almost two decades and has released five studio albums including Songs, Love is Real, We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves, Screen Memories, and Addendum. Maus is known as a vibrant and erratic performer though his retro music doesn’t always display this.

Joining Numan and Maus as a headliner will be A Place to Bury Strangers. Most recently, the group came out with a new song “Chrome Shadow” and played at the 15th anniversary of Moogfest.
