Prong Announce That They Are Working On A New EP

Legendary rock band Prong have announced that they are headed to the studio to begin working on a new EP with notable Folk artist, Chris Collier, according to The PRP. There is no exact release date for the new EP but they are aiming to release it sometime in the fall of this year. The EP will be mixed by the legendary Terry Date, of Pantera and Deftones, who worked with Prong for their 1994 album Cleansing. Cleansing will see a re-release in August for the 25th anniversary of the original release via 666 “individually numbered copies of the album will be pressed on silver and black marbled vinyl for the release.”

This month Prong and Collier will be working on tracking two singles for the mystery EP. Barely nothing is known about the new EP. It is currently unknown how many tracks will be on the EP, the name of the EP or which streaming services the EP will be released on.

The last time Prong released new music was the album Zero Days in 2017, according to an article from mxdnw. If this new EP is as good as Zero Days, fans of Prong are in for a pleasant surprise as Zero Days was met with critical release and a music news editor for mxdwn had this to say about the 2017 album “The delivery of the material is stellar throughout the LP’s entirety, making excellent use of Prong’s mastery over power and speed as well as their ability to slow things down. Even in the softer sequences they still maintain a solid presence, such as with their track ‘Blood Out of Stone,’ which showcases the band’s ability to take a slow approach without sacrificing substance.”

Even though Prong has not released new music since 2017, they have continued to tour. They went on tour with Helmet last spring, according to mxdwn. Prong is currently on tour for the 25th anniversary of Cleansing with the tour continuing on Europen leg next. After the Cleansing tour, Prong will be going on a North American tour in the fall with Agnostic Front, according to The PRP.
