Icona Pop Team Up with Yves V and Afrojack For New Club-Ready Dance Track “We Got That Cool”

Icona Pop the Swedish electropop duo with Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo have collaborated on a new single, “We Got That Cool” with Yves V and Afrojack. The song has heavy synth and will make you want to dance. The vibe has a certain 90’s house vibe to it. Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo reveal: “First time we heard the beat to ‘We Got That Cool’, it brought us right back to when we first started DJing, 13 years ago! It was a no brainer that we wanted to join Yves V and Afrojack on this track. It’s all about being in the zone with your partner in crime and being nothing but in the present as we’re entering the summer.”

Icona Pop Hjelt and Jawwo grew up in Stockholm and create music that “you can both laugh and cry to at the same time”. They signed to TEN Music Group in 2009. Their song, “I Love It” features vocals from British recording artist Charli XCX. This song peaked at number two on the singles chart, at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, denoting over 2 million copies sold in the United States. It has gone on to sell 4.3 million certified downloads.

Since September 2012, the duo have been based in the United States, in Los Angeles and New York City. They are currently on their WorldPride tour and will be performing at Stockholm Pride on July 30. The girls are currently in the recording studio and plan to release new music very soon.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
