Metal Supergroup Tau Cross Dropped by Relapse Records After New Album’s Liner Notes Thank Holocaust Denier Gerard Menuhin

The group Tau Cross will not be releasing their new album through Relapse Records after the label discovered that one of the influences thanked on the project was Holocaust denier, Gerard Menuhin. The label also announced that they would be dropping Tau Cross from their label following the incident, taking a hard stance on the issue. Tau Cross’ singer Rob Miller was the one who added the thank you to Menuhin into the liner notes of the album, something that went unnoticed at first as the name was not originally recognized by those at Relapse. As soon as the label was made aware of the situation, however, they quickly worked to remove the group from their roster.

The band released a statement on Facebook on Tuesday discussing the departure from Relapse. In the post the group wrote, “We regret to say that Tau Cross and Relapse records are now parting company after several successful and fruitful years together. Circumstances have arisen that must put an end to our relationship. We would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to all the staff and crew at Relapse for their work over these past few years and our apologies to supporters who have already bought the new record. We shall be looking into other avenues to release the album ‘Messengers of deception’ and will keep people updated about that development.”

The album, which is titled Messengers Of Deception, was due out in just a few weeks on August 9th, meaning that much of the merchandise for release had already been made. This is what led to Relapse’s discovery of Menuhin being on the liner notes, with the magazine Ox being the first to notice Miller’s note about Menuhin. The publication was interviewing Miller at the time, and after noticing Menuhin was thanked by Miller for his influence they asked him about the topic. When pressed, the singer stated that he did not share Menuhin’s views on the Holocaust and was not a Holocaust denier. Menuhin himself is infamous for his conspiracy theories and hatred for the Jewish people. In the writer’s 2015 book Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil, he stated that the Holocaust was the “biggest lie in history.”

The other members of Tau Cross were completely stunned by this news, stating that they had never known who Menuhin was prior to this event. Each member added their own thank you’s to the list on the album, and with no prior exposure to who Menuhin was, the other bandmates didn’t think twice when Miller added him. The other members of the band were made aware of the situation earlier this week, after Relapse had made the decision to drop the band. As of now, the fate of the group and their new album are unknown, meaning fans will have to wait to see what Tau Cross ends up deciding what to do.
