Alma Shares Melancholic New Video For “Lonely Night”

The finnish pop star Alma just released a music video for her newest song “Lonely Night.” The video is directed by Deni Cheng and produced by Tiistai. “Lonely Night” comes off of Alma’s debut album Have You Seen Her? which will be released in September of this year. The song was written by Alma herself along with the group hitlmpulse which consists of Kygo, Ellie Goulding, and Steve Aiko. Alma collaborated with them in the past on her track “Chasing Highs.” Additionally, Alma will be going on tour this summer and throughout the month of October.

The video follows the story of a woman who anticipated the arrival of another woman who she is in love with. However, it is later revealed that the woman waiting for the other is more in love. In the end, the main character is left heartbroken and disappointed. Visually, the music video for “Lonely Night” is electric as characters in the video are bathed in electric blues and reds throughout. Additionally, “Lonely Night” maintains a quirky feel as the main character goes from play fighting with her crush, to blowing bubbles and staring into a dirty sink filled with bugs. Alma herself even makes a cameo in the video warning the main character that her crush “isn’t coming.” Check out the video below:

When talking about the video, Alma stated, “The ‘Lonely Night’ music video was a super important project for me. I told my story in the song and I wanted someone to make almost like a short movie out of it! I think we did great! My own character in the video is more like my own brain in real life telling me the reality but I always go with my heart end of the day! And sometimes we get hurt by it!”
