“To every story, there is a tragedy. Life is a book, filled with chapters. Some tell stories of a good time. Some tell stories of the dark. To every monster, there is a hero, to every nightmare, we all wake up, to every story, there is a final chapter. Some monsters can become human. Other monsters reap for revenge. This is the end of the monsters” the narrator said in Slayer’s new video.
The video titled “Coming Fall 2019” follows a man digging a hole for a minute and ends on him dealing it with a cross. Given the obscurity, fans are confused as to what the video is implying. What could the band possibly be implying? A new album, another leg of their tour or maybe even a Slayer movie about mounting crosses. With all jokes aside, the band has been on their “final tour” since 2018 and has been adding more stops to the tour up to now.
They are listed on Riot Fest’s lineup this year and plan to perform at other festivals such as Heavy Montreal and Chaos AB.
Given this, it could likely be the announcement of the band’s final leg of their North American tour and furthermore their retirement, even though no one can be certain. It is rumored that Primus will be joining Slayer on this final leg because Les Claypool hinted such a possibility on the Bill Burr podcast.
“There’s another thing too that’s kind of a secret, but maybe I can tell you now… So it looks like we’re confirmed — we’re gonna play the last, the very last run supporting Slayer’s very last tour; Primus is… It’s starting at Madison Square Garden [in New York City] and ending at The Forum [in Los Angeles]” Les Claypool said on the podcast.
Until there’s an official announcement of the final leg of the tour, you can find Slayer performing in Lisbon, Portugal this Friday.
