Rock group Hellyeah has released a new single and video for “Oh My God,” from their upcoming album Welcome Home. This song is one of the last that the drummer for Hellyeah, as well as famed rock group Pantera, Vinnie Paul, recorded for before he passed away last summer. In 2006 Hellyeah was formed by Paul, as a drummer, Chad Gray of Mudvayne as a singer, guitarist Tom Maxwell of Nothingface, and bassist Kyle Sanders, of Bloodsimple. Current guitarist, Christian Brady, joined the band 12 years later in 2014.

The music video for “Oh My God” has everything anyone could ever want from a rock music video; snakes, cool cars, wicked guitars and blood- lots and lots of blood. The song “Oh My God” itself has everything anyone could ever want from a rock song too; a cool guitar riff and solo, amazing drum work, and edgy lyrics. The song has themes of depression, feeling stuck and making “deals with the devil.”

The song opens with lyrics that set a pretty dark sentiment “The little boy in me that was wild with fright/ Nobody came to my rescue when I called out that night/ So many times, so many tries so many cries for help in life/ But it’s too late now…”

The chorus is pretty catchy and carries over the dark sentiments of the opening lyrics “OH MY GOD!/ I made a deal with the devil now the devil’s in my blood/ I’m the bullet he’s the gun/ Now the targets on your back and here I come/ I’m the bullet he’s the gun.”

In the description for the “Oh My God” video on YouTube, Hellyeah urges people to donate to the American Heart Association (AHA) in Paul’s name. The donation link has a goal of $10,000 and that is far from the only work the group is doing to benefit the AHA. They are setting up a text-to-donate initiative where people can text “Vinnie” to #41411 to make a donation to the AHA.
