Allman Brothers Announce Fillmore West ’71 Live Album For September 2019 Release

The caretakers of the music catalogue of the legendary Allman Brothers, Gregg, who passed away in 2017 as previously reported by mxdwn, and Duane, who passed in 1971, are releasing a posthumous four-CD set Fillmore West ‘71 in collaboration with a distributor, The Orchard for the band’s 50th anniversary on September 6th

According to a press release sent to mxdnw, Fillmore West ‘71 will be “culled from an epic weekend of live music recorded at the legendary San Francisco venue,” and the four-disk set “will be the debut release of these recordings.” The cover of the album is a rarely seen picture of Duane Allman taken during the original shows.

The Rolling Stones article about Fillmore West ‘71 states that “In March 1971, the Allman Brothers Band famously set up shop at the Fillmore East in New York City and recorded what would become one of the most acclaimed live albums of all-time, At Fillmore East. Two months prior, the band was tuning up for those famed gigs at the original Fillmore in San Francisco, and now those shows will be released September 6th as a new four-CD set, Fillmore West 1971.”

Fillmore West ‘71 will consist of shows recorded January 29th, 30th, and 31st. The tracklist stays pretty close to the Allman Brothers classic album At Fillmore East but there will be new tracks  including “Waters,” “Dreams” and “Hoochie Coochie Man” from the January 31st show.

Fillmore West ‘71 is set to release on August 16th, according to Live For Live Music.
