The Power Of The Riff is set to return to Los Angeles, California this August 31st featuring Zakk Sabbath, the Black Sabbath tribute band led by Ozzy Osbourne’s former guitarist, Zakk Wylde, Fu Manchu, The Wraith and Entry. This event will be held at the Fonda Theatre, and will be hosted by comedian Don Jamieson.
Tickets for the upcoming event are now available here. Various other artists such as Neurosis, Pelican, Pentagram, Repulsion and Sunn O))) have performed at this event in the past. Power of the Riff is also not specific to Los Angeles, as the show promoters have booked similar line-ups across both the east and west coast of the United States.
Zakk Sabbath have been in the process of recording a new cover album of Black Sabbath’s self-titled debut album, which will be released in 2020, to honor the 50th anniversary of the album’s release. Wylde is currently working with Black Label Society‘s ex-Rob Zombie, bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson and former Queens Of The Stone Age, etc. drummer Joey Castillo to create the upcoming album.
Wylde and his band Black Label Society have wrapped up their spring tour 20 Years of Sonic Brewtality Tour, which was created to honor the 20th anniversary of their debut album Sonic Brew. This release followed a reissue of the debut album, which was packaged as Sonic Brew – 20th Anniversary Blend 5.99 – 5.19.
Located in Southern California Fu Manchu have attracted a sizeable following for their unique take on the stoner rock genre, and blends of hardcore punk and psychedelia. Their 12th studio album Clone Of The Universe was released last year, to moderate positive critical response, landing respectable score of 78 on review aggregator metacritic.
“The cover of the album is artwork in itself, with a beautiful psychedelic face peering out at the audience. The songs on the album are also psychedelic in nature, though leaning towards hard rock,” explained mxdwn reviewer Caitlin Willis. “Though it may not be the best album that Fu Manchu has created, Clone of the Universe is entertaining and fun, and is a great addition to the band’s impressive repertoire.”
