Damon Albarn Backed Africa Express Debut New Single “Where Will This Lead Us To?” featuring Moonchild Sanelly, Radio 123 and Blue May

Africa Express has released another new track, this one titled “Where Will This Lead Us To?” The track is from the group’s upcoming album EGOLI, which is due to be released in just a few weeks. The song is the most recent in a string of singles released to support the upcoming album, with this being the fourth track from the album. The new song features production from Blue May and vocals from Moonchild Sanelly and the duo Radio 123, who all work together to make an incredibly infectious and funky R&B track. The song was also released with a visualizer on Youtube, adding just a little bit more flair to the track.

Africa Express is a music collective put together by musician Damon Albarn, famous from the groups Blur and Gorillaz. Albarn created Africa Express in the early 2000s as a non-profit organization based on the idea of bringing native African music to a much wider audience. Since then, Albarn has used the organization to put out a series of different studio albums, each embracing music in different African cultures and attempting to spread that unique sound to more people. The group typically brings in producers and musicians from abroad to work with local artists, in order to give these lesser known artists a chance to work with new collaborators and create a fusion of different sounds. The new EGOLI album in specific takes much of its sound from South African music, and the creative process brought together dozens of different musicians and artists.

EGOLI has so far had four singles released in support of it, with each showing off the talents of a different collection of artists. The recent single, “Where Will This Lead Us To?,” was created incredibly quickly, with the artists connecting together almost immediately. Recorded last year during the week long recording sessions for EGOLI, the song was put together in one of the first meetings of Blue May and Moonchild Sanelly. The two stated they connected artistically and began working on the track almost as soon as they met. It came out as an incredibly gorgeous song that shows the talent of all those involved.
