The band’s last musical effort was Whiteout Conditions, released in 2017. The album received much critical acclaim and was described as “rich with new wave synths and closely blended harmonies” from Pitchfork and “uplifting three to four-minute indie-pop numbers, imbued with lush vocals” from Rolling Stone. Late last year, Carl Newman updated fans on new music. Newman took to Twitter to announce that he had begun working on new music for the band. Additional details have yet to unfold. The band formed in 1997 in Vancouver, BC and has spawned on to make seven albums and have their music be included in numerous films and television shows.
