Influential nu-metal band Korn has just announced the release date for their latest upcoming studio album The Nothing, which will be released September 13th off Roadrunner Records/Elektra. This will be the group’s thirteenth studio album, following their 2016 release The Serenity of Suffering.
This upcoming album will contain the group’s latest single “You’ll Never Find Me,” along with an accompanying music video for the track. “You’ll Never Find Me,” contains many of Korn’s signature musical styles, with their singer’s dark vocal inflections, to the industrial styled drums and backings. The accompanying music video matches the songs tone, featuring a human figure being suspended from many wires, with the frame changing color to red during its final moments.
Korn began recording the album a little under a year, ago which was revealed when they posted an update on their social media of themselves in the studio.
“It’s in the future, definitely. When I get back after this European [solo] run, I start writing vocals for the stuff that they’ve done,” Korn’s lead singer Jonathan Davis stated about the album in 2018. “We’re gonna keep working through the year, so hopefully we’ll have it out, probably, this time next year.”
Davis explained the new album as such in a press release:
“Deep, within our Earth lives an extraordinary force. Very few are aware of the magnitude and significance of this place where good/evil, dark/light, bliss/torment, loss/gain and hope/despair all exist as one- pulling at us every moment of our lives,It’s not something we can choose to navigate, but rather an awareness of this ‘presence’ that surrounds us with every breath, as if we are being watched at every moment.”
This album’s themes are likely to match many of the band’s signature songwriting which deal with a sense of isolation,
“It’s the place where black and white energies attach themselves to our souls, and shape our emotion, choices, perspective and ultimately our very existence,” Davis continued.”There is a miraculous and small realm within this vortex and it’s the only place where balance between these dynamic and polarizing forces exists -where the soul finds its refuge. Welcome to…..The Nothing.”
