The Danish is coming. Composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Anders Trentemøller is ready to share his forthcoming new collection of electronic music. Dropped last month, “Sleeper” is Trentemøller’s first original release since 2017’s “Hands Down”. Trentemøller then non-stop released music video of “In The Garden” featuring Lina Tullgren. Both tease his fifth album Observe, which is set to out on September 27 via Trentemøller’s own label In My Room.
According to Under the Rader, Trentemøller made this statement about the album in a press release: “I have always worked with contrasts in my music and in my sound. It’s in the subtle clashes of feelings and tonal contradictions that I often find pure inspiration. Obverse was always going to be about exploring the possibilities in my studio, with no consideration of how it could be performed on a stage, and it was completely liberating.”
It’s undeniable that Obverse gears up talents. Singer-songwriter Rachel Goswell of the shoegaze group Slowdive opens the first track of the whole album. “Try A Little” features Jenny Lee of Warpaint (aka jennylee), who previously made guest appearance on Trentemøller’s video “Hands Down.” Lisbet Fritze was one of the major forces in Trentemøller’s last album Fixion. Lina Tullgren contributes her composition of guitars and vocals in “In The Garden.” Its lo-fi melancholic and introspective single narrates a sense of poetic darkness.
