Cardi B Indicted on Felony Charges For Allegedly Ordering Strip Club Attack

Cardi B fans have received more news about her current legal battles. The female rap icon and former reality television show star Cardi B has been charged with two felony counts of intent to cause serious physical injury.

She was indicted for allegedly organizing attacks against two strippers who worked at a strip club in Queens last summer. Cardi allegedly ordered the attacks because she suspected that one of the strippers was having an affair with her husband and member of the rap group Migos Offset.

Videos surfaced of her throwing ice buckets at them, which added even more compelling evidence against her case. She was also charged with six other misdemeanors and six violations, which included the accusation from the two strippers.

In April, she rejected a plea deal which had lead to the current court hearings. She now has a court order to stay away from the two and announced her separation from Offset in December.

The rapper started out as a stripper in New York City before getting into music, which helped her develop many connections that eventually lead her to star on the reality tv show Love and Hip Hop New York. In an interview with Howard Stern, she talked about how working at a strip club “saved” her because it gave her enough money to leave her abusive ex-boyfriend.

Even with legal allegations piling up, the rapper has not stopped from touring as she performed at Coachella and appeared on stage sing “Taki Taki “with DJ Snake and Selena Gomez in April. She is also set to headline the Made in America Fest created by hip hop legend Jay Z.

A video for her new single “Press” dropped three weeks ago, which appears to be a giant scream of defiance against the constant press coverage of her court hearings. Just days before her indictment, she received an award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (Ascap).

The rapper’s lawyer refrained from commenting and Cardi has yet to make a statement. Her arraignment hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25.

UPDATE (6/25/19): Card B has pleaded not guilty to several charges regarding her allegedly orchestrated attacks on two strippers in Queens.

Alex Myers: I'm an Okie living in L.A. writing about music and other things that I'm passionate about. I was raised by musicians and I grew up playing bass guitar, piano and cello. You can always find me with my headphones on or glued to my phone reading the latest music news. My passion for music lead me to attend college at Loyola Marymount University in L.A. with the dreams of making a living in the music industry. After interning for two record labels I was certain that working in the music industry was not for me. However, when I started writing for my college's newspaper, I figured out that I was a talented writer and I subsequently changed my career path. Now I'm combining my two passions and aspiring to become a music writer.
