In just a few days, Tuxedo recently announced their studio album Tuxedo III will be available. The album, Tuxedo III, will be available for purchase digitally and physically; both on CD as well as limited-edition silver haze-colored vinyl and clear, silver and glitter-infused cassette tapes. Along with the announcement of a studio album, the duo also announced the releasement of their new single “Toast 2 Us.” View below.
Over the past five years, Tuxedo, Los Angeles-based recording artist Mayer Hawthorne and Seattle-based producer Jake One, has been steadily making a name for themselves. Mayer Hawthorne has four acclaimed solo albums and Jake One has an impressive production resume working for hip-hop’s elite including Drake, Future, The Weeknd and De La Soul. Between the two of them, they share eight Grammy nominations.
“What separates Mayer and Jake from the pack is their authenticity. They understand that the music isn’t complex and should be approached with a certain degree of ease,” NPR mentioned.
The press release notes that Tuxedo III was produced and arranged by the group. It features their lead single “The Tuxedo Way,” which was welcomed with immediate praise upon its release last month. The 11-track album, available via the group’s own label Funk On Sight, features an array of special guests including MF DOOM, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, Parisalexa, Leven Kali, Battlecat, DāM-FunK, and Gavin Turek in addition to Benny Sings.
“Tuxedo isn’t a novelty nor a niche project, but more of a genuine reincarnation of a true dynamic of funk music’s past given some fresh air. Whether you can dance or not, if Tuxedo doesn’t even give you the urge to get up and boogie, even in the most inopportune of places, then you are not truly living,” Huffington Post stated.
In celebration of the release of their upcoming album, Tuxedo is hitting the road to spread the funk across North America this summer on a 21-date headlining tour throughout July and August. Kicking off July 20th in Santa Ana, California, Tuxedo will stop at major cities across North America, including Las Vegas, Washington, DC, New York City, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles before wrapping August 24th in San Diego.
