SUNN O))) Announces Fall 2019 US Tour Dates

Sunn O))) the metal band has announced Fall 2019 tour dates with a few stops in Europe before heading to the United States where they will play a handful of cities before heading overseas again. The band includes Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson who released a new album, Life Metal which has four songs with dark, unusually long, drowned out sounds that leave room for the imagination in your mind to set the space. The four songs on this album, “Between Sleipnir’s Breath”, “Troubled Air”,  “Aurora” and “Novae” extend over an hour of epic, long range and bizarre sounds, intermingled from time to time with a soft echo of bells or a horse cry. The power of the guitar fills your mind with some mind-blowing, calming yet mood altering shifts.

Bands, Fellow Southern Lord, Big Brave and Papa M, the project of David Pajo of Slint, will perform at certain shows. When performing live, Sunn O))) band members wear robes and fill the air with fog, and plays at an extremely high volume. The band is known for using resonant feedback to create monolithic soundscapes and eerie atmospheres.

The album, Life Metal reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hard Rock Album chart. Sunn O))) is named after the Sunn amplifier brand, the logo of which includes a circle next to the “SUNN” banner with waves heading off to the right. In interviews, Stephen O’Malley stated that the band’s moniker was also chosen as a play on the name Earth, a band widely regarded as pioneers of drone metal throughout the 1990’s.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
