Woodstock 50 Venue and Event Producer Cut Ties with Festival

Over the last few months the road to Woodstock 50 has been looking increasingly bleak. As the 50th anniversary of Woodstock slowly approaches, more developments have occurred that are making the promise of the Woodstock 50 festival seem likely to be broken. Yesterday the venue for Woodstock 50 decided that they no longer wanted to host the event and left the festival without a venue. A little later on in the same day, the producer for the event, CID Entertainment, decided to cut ties with Woodstock 50 as well.

The festival was supposed to take place in upstate New York at a racetrack called Watkins Glen International. However, yesterday the venue pulled out of the festival due to a number of setbacks and complications. The venue stated,  “Watkins Glen International terminated the site license for Woodstock pursuant to provisions of the contract. As such, WGI will not be hosting the Woodstock 50 Festival.”

A little less than an hour after Watkins Glen International abandoned Woodstock 50, the festival’s producer CID Entertainment decided to follow suit. In a statement in which they cut ties CID said, “CID Entertainment had been engaged to provide enhanced camping, travel packages and transportation for Woodstock 50. Given developments, we can confirm that CID is no longer involved in Woodstock 50 in any capacity.”

Despite the bad news for the fate of Woodstock 50, the Woodstock 50 LLC principal Gregory Peck seems pretty optimistic. In a statement about the recent events Peck said, “We are in discussions with another venue to host Woodstock 50 on August 16-18 and look forward to sharing the new location when tickets go on sale in the coming weeks.”

Woodstock 50 has had its ups and downs in the last few months. The event looked incredibly promising when the lineup came out announcing performances from Jay-Z, Imagine Dragons, the Killers and more. However, the festival really seemed to go downhill once Superfly and Dentsu, the investors for Woodstock 50, left. Even though Woodstock 50 found new investor around mid May, the foundation for the festival still seems unstable.
