The Original Misfits Reunion Shows Are A Result Of A Legal Settlement

The Misfits have made it known that many of their reunion shows in the last few years have been a result of legal settlements. It has been common knowledge that before the Misfits came together for reunion shows, vocalist Glen Danzig and bassist and vocalist Jerry Only litigated for years over the trademarks and profits of the band. However, it is new knowledge that their reunion shows are due to legal settlements. Previously, it was believed that the reunion shows came out of a resolved conflict and renewed friendship between Danzig and Only.

Before the reunion shows, Danzig didn’t receive what he wanted in regards to the trademark battle. Only gave into Danzig’s desires in exchange for Danzig’s participation in reunion shows for the Misfits. Here is a draft of the settlement below:

“The parties agree to perform no fewer than ten (10) Misfits reunion shows to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the band. The parties shall split all proceeds (including merch for the tour as well as any reunion-specific merch to be sold at retail) from any such reunion endeavors 50/50 after deduction of expenses.

If either side fails to perform the agreed-upon number of reunion shows, the parties agree to submit to final and binding arbitration under the Commercial Rules of Arbitration of the American Arbitration Association, by one or more arbitrators appointed in accordance with those Rules, to determine the amount of any damages sustained by the non-breaching party.

The parties agree to share all expenses related to reunion endeavors 50/50 unless otherwise mutually agreed in writing (e.g., in the event a third party will pay). Any other performers will be paid as employees.”

Danzig, Only, and Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein have successfully had six performances with two more to go. Additionally, other musicians have joined the group for the concerts, including the drummer for Suicidal Tendencies Dave Lombardo, and the guitarist Acey Slade.
