Efterklang Announce First New Album in 7 Years Altid Sammen For September 2019 Release

Efterklang has announced that they will be gracing the universe with a new album this year. The trio will be releasing their first album in seven years, titled Altid Sammen (Always together) The album will be the group’s fifth record, following 2012’s Piramida and is set for release on September 20. Along with the album announcement, they also released its lead single, ‘Vi er uendelig’ (“We are infinite”) and it’s accompanying video.  The visual was directed by Andreas Koefoed and features model and photographer Helena Christensen. According to NPR, the video pays homage to a Johnny Hallyday TV performance in 1964 of “Le Penitentier.”See the visual below.

In celebration of the album and song announcement, they will be embarking on a European tour later this year and into 2020. The tour will be kicking off August 23in Edinburgh, GB and will continue on to Oslo, Warsaw, Madrid, and a two-night stint in Copenhagen, Denmark. They will be performing the new album in its entirety as part of the Reeperbahn Festival the day after the album’s release with a sold-out headline show at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie on September 21. See the full itinerary below.

In a press release, lead man Casper Clausen discussed the new album and the group’s hiatus after their final show in their hometown Sønderborg. “We needed a break from the album and touring routine, and we needed a break from Efterklang,” Clausen said. “After the Sønderborg show, things felt very exciting – and a bit scary too. We could think freely, and move in new directions again, just focusing on the things that excited the 3 of us.”
