Torres Announces Signing to Merge Records and Plans for New Album in 2020

The artist Torres, whose birth name is Mackenzie Scott, has announced her official signing to Merge Records. Her fourth album is approaching its completion and will be released in 2020.

The artists shared exclusive single “Two of Everything” on her Patreon page last year, and previously dropped the third studio album Three Futures via her former label 4AD in 2017. The relationship with 4AD didn’t last long but ended in last year for “not being commercially successful enough.” However, Scott states with joy that, “I feel like I’ve lived an entire lifetime in the three years since recording Three Futures. This new record documents the significant fruits, for better or worse, of some terrifically delusional pursuits.”

Torres announced three-cities tour this year, which embarks at Sled Island Festival in Calgary, Alberta on June 19 and wraps up at Pop Montreal in Montreal, Quebec on September 28. Tickets of MRG30 venue in Carrboro, North Carolina were sold out. For more information about new music, tour dates check out Torres’ FacebookInstagramTwitter, and sign up for Torres’ mailing list.
