Baroness have a new album coming out next week on June 14 called Gold & Grey, continuing the color-theme motif they’ve successfully employed on their previous four albums. This is the first album to feature new member, guitarist Gina Gleason who replaced former guitarist Pete Adams. She features heavily on the acoustic track, adding a touch of feminine vocals to the mix.
This unique version of a new Baroness song was recorded for Revolver. The band filmed the take outside of the Northern California city of Albany, CA.
Gold & Grey is the follow up to the band’s outstanding 2015 release Purple. That album was their first new release since a tragic bus crash that resulted in serious injuries for many members of the band and resulted in cancelled tour dates and members quitting.
According to a tweet from the band, this acoustic arrangement of “Cold Blooded Angels” is the first time they’ve ever played it live. The band has also recently released “Throw Me An Anchor” and “Seasons” from the new album. In addition to traditional electric tour dates this summer, the band has a series of acoustic record store dates coming up this summer. It’s probably pretty likely they’ll perform a similar version of “Cold Blooded Angels” on the tour.
Thanks to @RevolverMag for having us on their NO DISTORTION series with an acoustic version of “Cold Blooded Angels.” This is the first time we EVER played this song live!
