Grimes Says New Album Is Being Mixed

After a number of events that led her fans to believe that she was on the verge of evolving into a new version of herself as an artist, Grimes finally gave an update on her highly-anticipated forthcoming album. After completely rejecting her fourth studio album Art Angels and hinting to media that she was considered a change to her stage name, the Canadian singer announced that she would be returning back with a new album, Miss_Anthropocene.

Now that a couple of months have passed since she first made the announcement, Grimes gave a simple but self-explanatory reply to a fan on Twitter when they asked the artist for any hints on when her new music is slated to come out: “Albums done but mixing”. She also took the time to apologize for “taking my sweet time” but from the sound of things, her fans can expect her next project to be a breath of fresh air as she has already hinted at changing herself as an artist before; nobody ever complains about the slow roast as long as its fulfilling and worth the wait.

Grimes did not stop there as she also noted that she was currently “working follow up tho”. While this could be interpreted as her saying that was following up on the mixing of her upcoming album, this could be viewed as a cryptic tweet to let fans know that she is not taking her foot off the gas anytime soon and is already working on her follow-up to Miss_Anthropocene.

When asked about her upcoming album back in mid-April, Grimes stated that she had made the album as a way to switch up the narrative on climate change.

Kalen Murphy: I was raised across the world so I cannot be grounded to a genre knowing that music is the universal language that makes us move as one. Sometimes I'm Tyler, The Creator with a hint of Donald Glover, other days I can be Tame Impala with a splash of Sylvan Esso. If you're someone that can see colors while listening to a song like me, cheers because we're the last of a dying breed.
