mxdwn PREMIERE: Shealee Looks at the “World Outside My Window” In New Song

Shealee is an Americana artist who recently released her first solo LP Head to the Stone after spending time in the Charlotte, NC duo Henry River Honey. Today, we have the premiere of a new lyric video for a song from that album, a soothing and wistful track called “World Outside My Window.” The closing song on her eight-song album, its lightly strummed acoustic guitars, subtle piano flourishes and Western-influenced lead guitar make it the perfect way to finish out this promising artist’s first record.

Shealee was a member of bluegrass/roots group Henry River Honey with her musical partner Tracy Horton, though recently left the group to pursue her solo career. The duo toured regionally and were awarded Best Bluegrass/Americana Band at the 2016 Carolina Music Awards.

Head to the Stone was recorded in the world-famous city of Muscle Shoals, AL at Fame Studios. Shealee recorded the album with the former guitarist for Bonnie Raitt’s band, Will McFarlane. While Head to the Stone is rooted in country and folk music, Shealee adds a touch of pop, soul, blues and even jazz to create a peaceful yet multi-faceted sound on the new record.
