mxdwn PREMIERE: Foxtrails Releases Otherworldly New Video for Psychedelic Indie Song “Gemini”

With a new album on the way later in 2019, we’re excited to premiere the video for the first single from Los Angeles indie band Foxtrails, a lushly-arranged track called “Gemini.” The band formed over a period of several years, gathering at one of the last vestiges of the Venice DIY art scene, the “artist” house known as Zanja House for its location on Zanja Street.

“Gemini” features the distinct vocals of lead singer Blake McLeod, joined by his five bandmates to create a rich indie-pop sound that features heavy psych influences, with a dash of old school R&B. Other members of Foxtrails include multi-instrumentalists Dane Sandborg, Micah Sohl, Michael Brenner and Cory Yamashiro, with the most recent members being violinist Nikita Sorokin and percussionist Dylan Grombacher.

The video features McLeod in a series of mesmerizing poses and scenarios, singing the lyrics as he rides through the countryside first at night and then in the morning. The video was directed by Seth Naugle.

“The video for ‘Gemini’ brings a question of oneself to life,” said McLeod “An ongoing journey, looking for a version of oneself that makes sense, and validates steps along a personal path. You find yourself chasing, and ultimately facing who you are. And unexpectedly finding, and accepting the honest truth.. there’s a bigger picture. It lies in connecting, and welcoming your part in the process. Absorbing, breathing, and living in Harmony with the always evolving ways of the world around you. It’s temporary… and at the same time it’s everlasting. It’s beautiful. So, you have to stop wasting time, stop overthinking, let go…and just be. The video explores the process in that personal and universal dialogue.”
