The former member from Old Crow Medicine Show, Chance McCoy, released new song “Loneome Pine,” which is McCoy’s second solo single. The singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist dropped his first solo song “No One Loves You (The Way That I Do)” earlier this April. The upcoming solo project will be released this fall.
McCoy contributed his talents in legend folk band-Old Crow Medicine Show’s ninth album, Remedy, won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album in 2015. As McCoy said, “It can be scary to step away from something that’s been so successful,” he added, “but it’s important to follow your passion. I really believe in the music that I’m making right now, so it feels like the right time for me as an artist to get off the main road and explore the path less trodden.”
“Loneome Pine” expands McCoy’s new possibility and versatility from previous work. It is an experimental challenge after the fiddler, guitarist and banjo player honed his craft for a long time. The new single blends folk, indie rock, bluegrass and electronic elements. The mellow song floats on its slower pace, which is made to evoke a relaxed and spacious feeling in nature. McCoy’s soft vocal smoothly wanders around the guitar melody, adding an atmospheric sense. In his own word, “People know me as a folk musician, but I’m expanding my creative horizons and blazing some new trails with this album,” said Chance. “Wandering’s what I do.” Check out “Loneome Pine” below.
