Songwriter Regina Spektor and Grammy award-winning singer Jakob Dylan come together to cover Love’s “No Matter What You Do”. The rendition of the classic ballad is serving as the ninth track of the soundtrack for Echo in the Canyon, a telling documentary about the origin and rise of the California sound that arrived from the Hollywood Hills region in the mid-sixties. The duo flawlessly recaptures the warmth of the original song with vocals that could soothe the coldest heart detached from their significant other. The song is only the second single following Jakob Dylan and Jade Castrinos’ cover of “Go Where You Wanna Go”, the first single released by The Mamas & The Papas in 1965.
The soundtrack boasts a stellar roster with artists like Beck, Tom Petty, Neil Young, and many more listed as contributors. “Echo in the Canyon” was first introduced in mid-2015 as many listed as featured artists on the soundtrack had come together to commemorate the fifty-year anniversary of the Southern California folk-rock genre with a live performance at the Orpheum Theater along with a tribute album that was originally slated for a 2016 release before being pushed back.
