Rap group Geto Boys have had to cancel their upcoming reunion tour, which was scheduled to start tonight. Rapper Bushwick Bill reportedly pulled out of the four night tour after stating that he felt that the promoters were exploiting his recent cancer diagnosis. Bill had wanted to do tour before receiving his diagnosis, but then found out he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Following that, promoters decided to brand the reunion tour as a “final farewell” for the group. Bill felt that was a deliberate choice to make more money off of the shows, using his illness to sell tickets. Due to this, the four previously announced shows, including tonight’s show in Pontiac, have been cancelled.
In order to not disappoint fans, however, Bill announced he would be embarking on a different tour this summer. The tour will be called the Phuck Cancer Tour and start next month. Bill’s new tour will have 20 performances across the US, starting in Dallas on June 8. Bushwick Bill has also announced that 10% of the proceeds from each show will be donated to pancreatic cancer patients from that city. This will allow for the rapper and his collaborators to still perform for fans across the country, and also give back to others who have been hurt by cancer.
