Zakk Sabbath, led by Ozzy Osbourne’s former guitarist Zakk Wylde will acknowledge the anniversary of Black Sabbath‘s 1970 self-titled album by releasing a covered version of the album on February 13th, 2020, 50 years after the initial album was released.
Wylde will be working alongside Black Label Society‘s ex-Rob Zombie, bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson and former Queens Of The Stone Age, etc. drummer Joey Castillo to see the covered version through.
The covered version will be titled Vertigo, in honor of the original album being released by Vertigo Records back in 1970.
According to theprp, the band will be “recording it entirely analog in a single 24-hour period,” in an attempt to capture the spirit of the original album. They will use an additional day to mix everything.
For fans looking for a front row seat to the re-creation of the 1970s album, “the entire process [of covering the initial album will be] documented with the footage to be compiled into a bonus DVD.
For fans and listeners looking to purchase or download the remake, Magnetic Eye Records will be issuing the record. It will be made available via a vinyl (with digital download), CD and DVD package that was limited to 500 pre-orders. To those who missed out, that option quickly sold out within a matter of a few hours.
Other than covering a legendary album, Zakk Sabbath will also have a cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Under The Sun“/”Every Day Comes And Goes” to be included on Magnetic Eye Records‘ tribute album to Black Sabbath‘s 1972 album, Vol. 4. The set is expected to be released in April 2020.
