Rock musician Mark Lanegan has unfortunately had to cancel his upcoming performance at the Stoned and Dusted music festival this upcoming weekend. Lanegan released a post on Twitter this morning how disappointed he was to have to cancel the show, but stated that a family matter has come up that he has to attend to. Stoned and Dusted is music event set to take place in the California desert near Joshua Tree and will feature a variety of rock and alternative rock performers.
Lanegan has been making music since the 1980s and has been tied to various major musicians over his career. One of the projects Lanegan is most known for is his time working with the band Queens of the Stone Age. In the early 2000s, Lanegan provided vocals for the group, even being the lead singer on a number of their albums. Lanegan worked with the group at a critical point in its history, as he did the lead vocals on their breakthrough album Songs For The Deaf. The album included the hit song “No One Knows,” which skyrocketed the group to mainstream fame. After leaving the band in 2005, Lanegan has continued to work with and provide his musical knowledge to a variety of different groups and musical projects.
Stoned and Dusted was not the only show Lanegan had been scheduled for recently, as the musician recently finished a month long tour in the United States. The tour was to promote the upcoming album for the Mark Lanegan Band, project due out in October. A relatively short set of shows, Lanegan performed starting from the beginning of this month up until the tour concluded this past Saturday. The album being promoted was the Mark Lanegan Band’s upcoming album Somebody’s Knocking, the follow up to the group’s 2017 album Gargoyles. While fans are disappointed over Lanegan cancelling his set, the singer will definitely be doing more shows later this year when the album is released.
