Pelican is back with a new song and album. The new album called Nighttime Stories is slated for release on June 7 via Southern Lord Recordings. It’s second single, “Cold Hope” has also been released, which is described as “an unrepentant crusher imbibed with moments of atramentous psychedelia and arguably the heaviest track on the album.”It follows its lead single “Midnight and Mescaline,” released earlier this year. The title of the song came from the name of a new “biere de garde” the band, who are known beer enthusiasts, in collaboration with Chicago brewery Metropolitan.  Take a listen to the new song below.

Nighttime Stories will mark the band’s first release in six years, following 2013’s Forever Becoming. The band will also be supporting the new album on a US and European tour this year. It is set to begin June 20 in Ferndale, MI. It will then continue in Toronto, New York, and Baltimore before concluding the US leg Sept.16 in Grand Rapids, MI. Europe will shortly follow, beginning October 5 in Nijmegen, NL and will then proceed on to Lido, Prague, Milan, London, and Manchester, before concluding October 19 in Antwerp, BE.
