BABYMETAL with Avatar @ Terminal 5 9/15

Quite frankly, Terminal 5 is far from ready for who’s planning to take the stage in September. Japanese kawaii metal group BABYMETAL will bring the house down during their show on Sunday, September 15th, with support by Avatar. Doors will open at 7:00pm, with Avatar taking the stage an hour later at 8:00pm. Tickets are going for just under $60 for General Admission, and the show is open to all ages.

BABYMETAL certainly identifies with a niche sub genre where few have ventured in the past. They began as a kind of “spinoff” unit to the larger Japanese group Sakura Gakuin, then eventually became its own independent entity in 2013. BABYMETAL strikingly takes notes from both the Japanese idol and heavy metal genres, fusing the two to form a subculture entirely their own.

Although this female trio is certainly cute, do not underestimate their power and longevity as artists. BABYEMETAL’s following has grown exponentially in the past several years, garnering multiple successful album releases and world tours, capping them with this year’s upcoming tour – which will feature the group’s very first North American arena show at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.

Regardless of their origins and assumed aesthetic, BABYMETAL has secured themselves as an act with true star power and longevity. With so many breakouts and sub-genres in the world of metal, it can be hard for certain groups to stand out – but BABYMETAL achieves that uniqueness with ease and power. They’re sticking around, so you should definitely get familiar with them.

Melissa Aiello: Hi there, nice to meet you! My name is Melissa and I am a 24-year-old passionate lover of all things related to music and live entertainment. I've been singing since the second grade, and playing guitar for the past five years. I grew up in a fairly musical household, with my grandfather breaking out his accordion and starting sing-a-longs at every family gathering. It was here that I began falling in love with music and its power to change moods, emotions, and lives. My taste in music goes far and wide - you name it, I'll (probably) listen to it. My hundreds of Spotify playlists include everything from Biggie to ABBA to the Jonas Brothers (thank GOD they're back together) to Dolly Parton and everything in-between. I aim for my little corner of the internet to spread love and positivity for all this beautiful music, and give you the opportunity to see or hear artists you may otherwise have not heard of.
