Earth Releases Ferocious Guitar Shredding On New Track “The Mandrake’s Hymn”

Experimental rock band Earth has released a new single for their upcoming album, Full Upon Her Burning Lips. The track is titled “The Mandrake’s Hymn” and is the third single to come out for the upcoming project. Even though it is just over 5 minutes in length, the song is the shortest released for the album so far. The prior two singles were both released earlier this year, starting with the track “Cats on the Briar.” Following that, the band put out the single “The Colour Of Poison” along with a music video last month. So far, all three tracks have drawn upon the slow and methodical stylings that long time fans of Earth have come to love.

A fully instrumental song, “The Mandrake’s Hymn” is exactly what one can expect from a new Earth track. The song is led by a powerful guitar riff and atmospheric drumming, staples of Earth’s style. People who have followed Earth for some time know that the group likes to take their time in their tracks, using slow beats and drawn out sounds to make the listener feel as though they are being enveloped into the song. This is extremely prevalent in all of Earth’s new singles, meaning fans of their previous work will most likely fall in love with their upcoming album.

Starting out in the early 1990s, Earth has been performing and releasing new music for nearly 30 years. In that time the group has released eight full length albums, with Full Upon Her Burning Lips set to become the ninth. Always focusing on minimalistic music styles, Earth has been turning heads since the release of their Earth 2 album in 1993. Despite being over an hour long, the project only consisted of three songs. The uniqueness of both the style of the album and of Earth’s sound in general set them up as one of the foundational bands of the atmospheric rock scene at the time. Since then, Earth has undergone decades of growth and various roster shifts to become the band it is today. Full Upon Her Burning Lips is set to come out later this month, on May 24.
