Poppies with Rubber Room & Nick Llobet @ Trans-Pecos 6/28

Indie-alt outfit Poppies will play a set at Trans-Pecos in Queens on Friday, June 28th, with support from fellow notable newcomers Rubber Room and Nick Llobet. Doors open at 7:00pm, with the show itself beginning at 8:00pm. Tickets are going for a mere $10, and the show’s doors are open to all ages.

Poppies are a fairly new, fresh face to the world of indie alternative music. Their first minor releases came into existence in 2016, which lead to the progression to their EP Good in 2017 and their full-length debut album Bed Music in 2019. Although they have not built up a full catalog to their name as of late, they consistently remain as an indie act to watch. Before headlining shows such as these, they have opened up for other acts in the space such as Pinegrove and Acid Dad. Poppies’ music has this raw, emotional edge that is is emphasized with the band’s specific choice of songwriting technique and overall lyrical composition. They’ve certainly come a long way since their inception, and it’ll be exciting to see where they are headed next.

Poppies’ set is supported by Rubber Room and Nick Llobet, both of which have a fair amount of groove to showcase. Their sets will likely provide a nice foil to that of Poppies, with several more upbeat tunes to round out the evening on a high note.

Melissa Aiello: Hi there, nice to meet you! My name is Melissa and I am a 24-year-old passionate lover of all things related to music and live entertainment. I've been singing since the second grade, and playing guitar for the past five years. I grew up in a fairly musical household, with my grandfather breaking out his accordion and starting sing-a-longs at every family gathering. It was here that I began falling in love with music and its power to change moods, emotions, and lives. My taste in music goes far and wide - you name it, I'll (probably) listen to it. My hundreds of Spotify playlists include everything from Biggie to ABBA to the Jonas Brothers (thank GOD they're back together) to Dolly Parton and everything in-between. I aim for my little corner of the internet to spread love and positivity for all this beautiful music, and give you the opportunity to see or hear artists you may otherwise have not heard of.
