Lights Signs with Fueled By Ramen, Announces New Skin&Earth Acoustic Album for July 2019 Release and Shares New Video for “Lost Girls”

Billboard announced that the Canadian singer songwriter Lights will be signing on with the record label Fueled by Ramen. Lights also announced the upcoming release of an acoustic version of her 2017 album Skin&Earth. This acoustic album is set to come out in July 2019. The artist additionally shared a music video for her new song off the album called “Lost Girls.” This track is one of three new songs added to the acoustic album which was recorded, produced, and mixed by Lights herself.

Along with these numerous announcements came the news that lights will be embarking on a summer 2019 tour for her Skin&Earth acoustic album. Lights will be playing in intimate settings and will be performing some of her new music. Additionally, she will have a full band and string instruments backing her up.

Lights radiates confidence in the “Lost Girls” video. While bathed in bright pinks and purples throughout, Lights demonstrates her inner boldness by carrying knives, walking around in leather boots, and writing on walls. Static neon words and outlines tastefully pop up during the course of the video adding an intriguing element to an already interesting song. The lighting changes from scene to scene as some shots are hazy, some have natural lighting, and others have a single spotlight pointed on Lights. Musically, the song pops with strong acoustic guitar staccatos. Lights’s voice demonstrates this same articulation, as her voice doesn’t ring but often stops short. Overall, the song and video accompany one another in a quirky way. Check out the video below:

Lights is quite the versatile artist. Skin&Earth was originally released as a multimedia concept album. It also included a comic series which was both written and illustrated by Lights herself. Skin&Earth is noted to be Lights’s most vulnerable album to date as it has a confident tone that’s both raw and revealing. Additionally, the album features the aid and input of many musicians including Corin Roddick of Purity Ring, and Big Data and Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots.
