Cave In Release New Space Rock Inspired Single “Shake My Blood”

The rock band Cave In just introduced their newest single “Shake My Blood” to the world. The song is much more tame but no less impressive compared to their  recent single “All Illusion.” The rock band Cave In just introduced their newest single “Shake My Blood” to the world. The song is much more tame but no less impressive compared to their other recent single “All Illusion.” The track comes off the band’s newest LP Final Transmission which is set to be released on June 7th of 2019.

“Shake my Blood” has an open sound with long guitar chords and multiple drum crashes. The drumming is particularly impressive as John-Robert Conners gets in a fast paced drum fill wherever he can. Even though the occasional out of tune note shows up in the song, there’s an underlying tinge of hope hidden in the melody and chord changes. What’s unique about the song is that the vocals don’t overpower the instruments and act more as an accompaniment to the overall sound. The singing really feels as though it is one with the rest of the track as it melts perfectly in with the guitar, drums, and bass. Listen to the song below:

Cave In began recording Final Transmission in February 2018. However, Cave In’s bassist Caleb Scofield unexpectedly passed away soon after. Scofield was highly respected in the rock community and is survived by his wife and two children. His final traces can be heard on Final Transmission as he plays bass on six of the tracks and guitar on two others. Additionally, Scofield can be heard on the opening track of the album by means of an iPhone voice memo.

In regards to the loss of Scofield and how he shaped the album, guitarist of Cave In Adam McGrath in an interview with Altpress stated, “It’s hard, but playing his music makes him seem alive and feel like he’s there with us, and I hope that feeling continues for years. It may be a little awkward doing interviews, but I want people to hear his music and talk about his art, and if that’s what I have to do to direct people toward Caleb, then that’s what I’ll do.”
