At the 2019 Rolling Loud event in Miami, an unexpected incident occurred. On Friday night, fans believed there was an active shooter within the festival arena, which led to chaos and fear that resulted in a stampede. Some of the crowd members were injured in the commotion. Fortunately, authorities and security took immediate action to remedy the situation. They let fans know it was a false alarm and there was no immediate danger. Few left with minor cuts and bruises as they were exiting.
Safety was a top priority to Rolling Loud and it was important to make sure fans stayed safe while on festival grounds. The festival reassured fans by issuing a statement on Twitter: “There was a false alarm of an incident on site that caused people to panic. The situation has been confirmed by police as a false alarm. The show is proceeding as planned with slight delays. Thank you for your patience. Anyone who ran out of the venue who still has their wristband on can re enter through security at the festival gates.” Despite the incident, one of largest hip-hop music festivals continued Saturday and Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium with headliners: Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Migos, Cardi B, and Lil Wayne.
The co-founder of Rolling Loud, Tariq Cherie reported that there were several people that got into a fight at the festival which caused others to believe there had been a shooting. Following the false alarm, a large group began running to the exits. Cherie stated “While we are upset this situation occurred, we are proud of the swift reaction of law enforcement to verify the area was secure.”
