Joan Wasser, also known as Joan As Police Woman, released a unique cover of the Prince classic “Kiss.” This track is the second to be released from her upcoming album JOANTHOLOGY, which comes out May 24 on Play It Again Sam. Joan’s take on the song presents a stripped back, raw and uniquely Joan version. It became her live favorite on her Damned Devotion tour. In addition, before the release of the new album, she will release a six-part series of podcasts on Apple, Spotify and Soundcloud where listeners can hear her talk candidly in detail about each of her albums, her music and her life.
JOANTHOLOGY is Joan’s first ever career retrospective and will be released as a deluxe triple CD set including ‘Live At The BBC’ which is a collection of songs recorded in session for BBC 6music. One song that is already out from the album, “What A World” explores the good and the bad in life. Fans who are interested will also have access to a limited edition sky blue vinyl release of ‘Live At The BBC’ and digital editions. The new album takes listeners through the first fifteen years of Joan’s musical output and included new material that has yet to be released in addition to more than 30 of her most loved songs. It was curated and sequenced by Joan and her manager Tom Rose, who is responsible for discovering and releasing her earnest recordings. The album truly showcases Joan’s songwriting talents, her love of music and her experimentation of life.
Joan As Police Woman is already amidst her JOANTHOLOGY tour that covers 47 dates across 15 countries. She will reimagine some of the key songs from the new album that will allow fans of all ages to hear her intensely personal and intimate songs that she hasn’t performed in years alongside new material and carefully chosen covers.
