A documentary about legendary rock band Led Zeppelin has been announced for the group’s 50th anniversary. The film as of now does not have an announced title, but fans are waiting with baited breath. What has been announced, however, is the director of the film; Bernard MacMahon. MacMahon made a name for himself in recent years with a series of documentaries depicting the growth of music in the United States in the 1920s.
Now, the filmmaker is delving into the rock scene of music documentaries, following the recent trend of films about rock stars. After the popularity of Bohemian Rhapsody and the excitement over the upcoming film about Elton John, the Led Zeppelin film will hopefully capture fans the same way.
The movie is going to feature new interviews from each of the remaining members of the band, along with footage of the band from back when it was first starting up. The film will even include previously unreleased footage of the late John Bonham, the band’s drummer. The focus of the documentary will be Led Zeppelin’s rise to fame, depicting the group first forming together. From the creation of Led Zeppelin up until the release of the band’s second album, MacMahon’s documentary will cover the earliest years of the group. An early showing of the documentary will take place at the Cannes Film Festival in France later this month.
