Imperial Teen Announces First New Album In Seven Years Now We Are Timeless for July 2019 Release

After seven long years since the release of Feel the Sound, Indie Pop band Imperial Teen announced the 2019 release of their newest album Now We Are Timeless. Additionally, Imperial Teen shared the first single from the album confidently titled “We Do What We Do Best.” Now We Are Timeless will be released through Merge records on July 12th.

“We Do What We Do Best” keeps with the uplifting and exciting sound that Imperial Teen has created for itself. The song begins with the members chanting in unison “We do what we do best” along with heavy guitar distortion giving the song a quirky and electrifying start. The song maintains a repetitive one measure guitar rhythm and an off and on chanting of “We do what we do best.” The layering of these two entities adds a mesmerizing feel to the track. “We Do What We Do Best” does a fantastic job at merging indie pop, alternative rock sounds of the early 2000s with current music trends.

In regards to the new album, the band stated, “Using our voice is all we can do. We step up, collective and proud, this family of ours that’s sustained and explored creatively for over twenty years. We’re not saying we do what we do better than anyone, but the individuality of our collective voice is all that we have and it’s what we do. We Do What We Do Best.”

Imperial Teen was creating in San Francisco back in 1996. The group consists of Roddy Bottum on guitar and vocals, Will Schwartz on guitar and vocals, Lynn Truell on drums, and Jone Stebbins on bass. Bottum is best known as the keyboardist from the band Faith No More. Now We Are Timeless will be the group’s sixth studio album. Known for their layering of interesting rhythms and a diverse mixture of live instrumentation and electric sounds, Imperial Teen is always a fun and exciting band to listen to.
