Tool Perform Material From Long-Awaited New Album During Welcome to Rockville Set

Just as Maynard James Keenan suggested, new music is making its way to fans, with an album most likely shortly behind it. Anticipated to be released in the next year or so, the new material shown on THEPRP, was performed at Welcome to Rockville festival in Jacksonville, Florida, and will likely be included in the content for their latest album. Keenan previously stated that it would be out around May-July. As band members periodically keep fans updated through Twitter, Maynard relayed that “Midway through mixing. Most likely to be a few recalls. Then some arguing. Then Mastering, Artwork, Video, Special Packaging, etc”. During the May 5th concert, Maynard also sported a new look, cashing in for a rainbow colored mohawk.

It’s been thirteen years since Tool released their last album, 10,000 Days, in 2006. Three tracks from the album: Vicarious, The Pot, and Jambi, claimed top ten rock singles. Keenan, as Tool‘s vocalist, along with Danny Carey, Adam Jones, and Justin Chancellor make up the bands players.

Latest music from Tool can be heard at, Welcome to Rockville, one of their recent concerts below. Two tracks, reportedly titled Invincible and Descending. Guitar solos and drum rifts can be heard, as well as lyrics by Keenan from Invincible.

Invincible lyrics

Longing tooth and soul
Longing for another win
Merge into the (frame/fray)
Weapon out and bellied in
A warrior, struggling to remain, consequential
Go around
Bold and proud
Where I’ve been?
Here I am

Beating chest and drum
Beating tired bones again
Age-old battle, mine
Weapon out and bellied in

Tales told of battles won
Of things we’ve done
Come give your love, again

Beating tired bones tripping through, remember when?
Once invincible, now the armors wearing thin, heavy shield down

Warrior, struggling, to remain, relevant
Warrior, struggling, to remain, consequential
Cry aloud, bold and proud
Where I’ve been
Here I am
Where I am

Warrior, struggling to remain, relevant
Warrior, struggling to remain, consequential

A tear in my eyes, chasing Ponce de Leons fountain sword
Filled with (holes/hope), I can taste mythical
Sultans false hope, perhaps, but the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting, feeling time, bearing down

In my eyes, chasing Ponce de Leons fountain sword
Filled with (holes/hope), I can taste mythical
Sultans false hope, perhaps, but the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting, feeling time, bearing down

False hope, perhaps, but the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting, feeling time bearing down

Bearing down
